Gun violence will only get worse under this administration’s misguided agenda.
Yesterday, a gunman used a short-barreled rifle to kill four people in Midtown Manhattan. This comes on the heels of Trump and gun lobby-backed Republicans sneaking a provision into their “Big, Beautiful” tax bill that reduced the tax on short-barreled rifles to $0, easing access to these dangerous weapons. Loosening restrictions on deadly firearms and accessories only leads to more death – we’re seeing it happen in real time, John.
Do you think it should be EASIER to obtain deadly weapons and firearm accessories?

Trump and his loyalist lawmakers are working under the NRA’s false notion that more guns make us safer when this couldn’t be further from the truth. More guns in our communities means more lives at risk.
What’s worse is that gun rights extremists are using the passage of this tax provision as a basis for their attempts to further dismantle decades-long gun safety regulations. They want to get rid of the National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA) to stop what they call "bureaucratic overreach” when what they’ll really be doing is making particularly dangerous firearms and accessories readily available to civilians without a background check or registration.
John –– we know you see past the gun lobby’s flawed logic and we’re counting on you to speak out against it. Will you respond to Brady’s urgent poll now and help us prove where the American people stand on guns: , will you respond to Brady's urgent poll now?

Firearms regulated under NFA include machine guns, short-barreled rifles and shotguns, and guns designed to look like other items like knives or umbrellas , as well as firearm accessories like gun silencers. These regulations don’t prevent people from obtaining these dangerous guns – but they ensure that only people who can pass a rigorous background check and lawfully obtain a gun can do so. It’s common sense and it saves lives.
These extremists fail to recognize the truth, John: The majority of the American people want MORE common sense gun violence prevention legislation. And this majority includes gun owners. Please, help us prove it by responding to Brady’s live poll NOW. >>
