Hi John,
A bill to ban Congressional stock trading has taken a major step forward 🥳! The HONEST Act (previously known as the ETHICS Act) has passed out of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and will now go to the full Senate for a vote. The bill had bipartisan support, with Senator Josh Hawley, a Republican from Missouri, being one of the strongest supporters.Â
If passed, this bill would prevent members of Congress, the President and the Vice President from buying "securities, commodities, futures, options, trusts and other comparable holdings." Or, in plain language, members of Congress would no longer be able to enrich themselves off the industries they are supposed to regulate.

This progress was made possible thanks to the work of countless organizations, including ours. RepresentUs supporters and outreach teams have sent 35,000 messages to representatives and senators about Congressional stock trading, and those messages have made a difference! We are one step closer to this commonsense reform.Â
But the work isn’t over yet. Tell your Senators that you want them to vote to ban Congressional stock trading.Â
