Electric vehicles are getting bigger. In Europe, China, the U.S. and elsewhere, the share of small EVs is shrinking as buyers increasingly opt for electric pick-up trucks and SUVs.
All are better for the climate than gas-powered cars. So, does their size matter? Surprisingly, yes. A shift toward larger EVs can strain energy systems and increase demand for scarce critical minerals. Smaller cars are also safer and better suited to many cities. We dug into the trend for bigger vehicles, and what it means to grow the EV market sustainably. |
