Today marks the anniversary of Medicaid and Medicare, two lifelines that have protected Michigan families for generations. 1 in 4 Michiganders rely on Medicaid or Medicare for health care.

But as we celebrate six decades of progress, Republicans are celebrating the most aggressive Medicaid cuts in our lifetimes and planning their next move to give more tax breaks to billionaires. Thanks to Republicans and Trump, we’re going to see higher costs, fewer doctors, and shuttered hospitals.

While Republicans try to hide the damage they have done, Democrats are fighting back to take back control of Congress and stop the GOP from more cuts and more billionaire tax breaks. Last week, we held a People’s Town Hall with former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and U.S. Senator Mark Kelly to keep the pressure on Republicans and call them out for pushing an agenda that is failing working families at every turn.

We’re not backing down, Friend. We need to show the strength of our grassroots movement and prove that Michiganders will never let Republicans get away with gutting our health care.
