Tell Congress: Don’t slash my Medicare

Dear Supporter,

TELL YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS:

“Don’t slash my Medicare benefits to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy or other unrelated fiscal priorities. These are my earned benefits, and they should be protected — not cut!”

Today we celebrate Medicare’s 60th Anniversary! That’s 60 years of providing health insurance to tens of millions of retired and disabled Americans and helping to keep older Americans out of poverty.

But despite the fact that Medicare continues to be enormously successful and popular, we are seeing signs in Congress that “entitlement reform” is next. In the past, some GOP lawmakers have supported raising the Medicare eligibility age and ending traditional Medicare, and have also tried to restore the power of big drug companies to charge consumers whatever they want for lifesaving prescription drugs.

And right now there is a concerted effort underway by the Trump Administration to expand Medicare Advantage by defaulting new beneficiaries into privatized plans, many of which have been caught red-handed delaying and denying patients’ medically necessary care that would be automatically covered by traditional Medicare.

Please help the National Committee TAKE A STRONG STAND FOR YOUR MEDICARE BENEFITS by signing our Urgent Petition to Congress today! ( [link removed] ) With so much at stake for seniors, please help us put pressure on lawmakers to protect — not cut — Medicare!

I often hear from older Americans all across the country about how it’s becoming more and more of a struggle just to make ends meet — and how without earned benefits, many older adults would be unable to put food on the table or afford their prescription drugs.

Yet, it’s clear some lawmakers in Washington are willing to sacrifice seniors’ earned benefits, including Medicare, on the altar of debt reduction — while they vote enthusiastically “YES” on a permanent expansion of the Trump-GOP tax cuts that mainly benefit the wealthy and huge corporations … and will contribute more than $3 trillion to the national debt!

The fact is, Congress listens to us because they listen to you. So please add your name right now to our urgent Petition to Congress. ( [link removed] )

Sincerely,

Max Richtman
