John,
Bad news first: Bigots in state legislatures across the country are laying the groundwork to roll back marriage equality. Lawmakers in Idaho, Montana, Michigan, Missouri, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Texas are pushing legislation that urges the Supreme Court to overturn Obergefell v. Hodges (the decision that made same-sex marriage legal nationwide).
If they succeed, outdated bans in more than half of U.S. states could snap back into place — erasing decades of progress and stripping LGBTQ+ people of one of our most fundamental rights: the freedom to marry who we love.
But here’s the good news: LGBTQ+ candidates we’ve helped elect are leading the charge to protect our rights. Donate $15 or more right now to help elect LGBTQ+ leaders who are fighting to protect marriage equality and block these attacks at the state level!
Here's what our candidates are doing to protect love:
🏳️🌈 In North Dakota, Sen. Josh Boschee helped kill a marriage ban bill.
🏳️🌈 In Michigan, Sen. Jeremy Moss (now running for the U.S. House!) is fighting to enshrine marriage equality in the state constitution.
🏳️🌈 In Virginia, Adam Ebbin and Rozia Henson are working to replace a discriminatory constitutional amendment with one that protects both same-sex and interracial marriage.
This progress is real, but it’s fragile. And with July’s end-of-month fundraising deadline just days away, we need your help to keep building momentum. Donate today — before midnight on July 31 — to elect LGBTQ+ champions and stop the rollback of our rights!
Love is worth fighting for. Let’s prove it. Let’s win.
Onward,
Orie Givens
