** DNC Launches Distributed Organizing Program, Deploys Grassroots Activists to Contact Voters in Texas to Fight Trump and Abbott’s Gerrymander
------------------------------------------------------------

DNC has already sent over 250,000 texts to mobilize against Republican’s scheme to rig the maps, will deploy 30,000 volunteers to take action against Texas Republicans

Today, ahead of the final sham Republican redistricting field hearing in Arlington, the Democratic National Committee announced a new national organizing program aimed at deploying its 30,000 volunteer organizers to contact persuadable Republican and independent Texas voters to let them know exactly how Greg Abbott and legislative Texas Republicans are attempting to disenfranchise their vote and rig the Texas maps at the behest of Donald Trump. Instead of focusing on flood relief, Texas Republicans are focused on rigging the map in a last ditch effort to hold their House majority. Polling shows that this effort is widely unpopular ([link removed]) by Texans of all stripes, and now the DNC is targeting persuadable Texans to let them know the names exactly behind this.

Through geotargeting and identification of persuadable Republican targets via the DNC’s data and analytics team, the DNC’s organizing team will make persuasion calls to thousands of Texas voters in key Republican districts along with deploying Texas volunteers to tell their stories and submit public comments, call their own state representatives, and organize in-person and online to build Democratic power in the state.

This new initiative adds to the DNC’s robust engagement in the Texas legislative battle already, where organizers have:
* Sent 250,000 texts recruiting Texans to turn out for the redistricting field hearings in Austin, Houston, and Arlington.
* Activated Texas creators to show up and cover the hearings, including 10 more creators today in Arlington.
* Mobilized Texans across the state to share their stories and tell the country how this gerrymandering scheme will affect them through submitting virtual public comments.

DNC Chair Ken Martin issued the following statement:

“The DNC is all hands on deck to hold Donald Trump and Greg Abbott accountable for their scheme to use the tragic Texas floods as cover to redraw the Texas maps in a last-ditch effort to save the Republican majority. Through our 30,000 person strong distributed organizing program and our state-of-the-art data and analytics team, for the first time, the DNC will directly call persuadable Texas Republican voters and make sure they know exactly how Texas Republicans are trying to disenfranchise their vote. Republicans know that the only way they hold onto the majority is by rigging the system but it won’t work. Democrats will hold Republicans across the country accountable for their vote to rip away health care and food access and that starts with organizing from the ground up.”

Texas Democratic House Caucus Leader Rep. Gene Wu issued the following statement:

“The DNC has been a leading supporter of our caucus since Trump and Abbott first introduced this cynical scheme. Their new initiative to contact persuadable Republican voters across the state and deploy organizers directly against Republican state reps is exactly the type of partnership Texas Democrats need. Building power starts across our communities and I thank Chair Martin and the DNC’s distributed organizing program for mobilizing Texans to fight back against this Republican ploy.”
