One year ago today, Iowa’s 6-week abortion ban - one of the strictest in the nation - went into effect. Since then, we’ve seen the devastating consequences firsthand: it is harder and harder to recruit OB/GYNs - and Iowa already has the lowest ratio of OBs to women in the nation; reproductive care clinics closing across the state, creating healthcare deserts; and rates of Iowans forced to cross state lines to access the care they deserve are skyrocketing. And our young people? They, too, are voting with their feet and we need them here.

This happened despite strong public opposition. Nearly 60% of Iowans opposed this ban, but Republican politicians pushed it through anyway, showing that no step is too far in their attempts to control women’s bodies. 

Enough is enough.
