John—
Last night, a man armed with an assault weapon entered a Midtown Manhattan office building. He killed at least four people and left another in critical condition.
Lives were taken and forever changed. Our country is reeling—and this massacre was totally preventable.
Assault weapons have been used in nearly all of the deadliest mass shootings because they can kill as many people as possible, as quickly as possible.
That's why our movement has been pushing for a federal ban on assault weapons—because our lives are on the line. Now's the time to get loud. Tell your members of Congress that we must ban assault weapons.
BAN ASSAULT WEAPONS
The shooter drove from Nevada—a state where assault weapons are legal, and even teenagers can buy them—to carry out this heinous crime in a state where these weapons are banned.
A state with weak gun laws can have an impact three time zones away. It's why your members of Congress need to hear from you: Ban assault weapons at the federal level.
John, we can't afford inaction right now. No matter the administration in charge, speaking up is critical, especially when national news shows how urgent this is. We must tell our allies in Congress to keep fighting, convince those on the fence to join our movement, and put gun lobby-allied lawmakers on notice.
Thanks for taking action,
Everytown for Gun Safety
