We worked tirelessly on this legislation for over a year. From helping draft early language, to educating legislators, holding strategic pastor luncheons, testifying in committees, equipping grassroots leaders across the state, and mobilizing thousands of North Carolinians to contact their representatives—we were in this fight every step of the way. You helped make that possible.
This effort would also be impossible without the many General Assembly members who sponsored the various bills that ultimately made up HB805. Our gratitude goes out to the sponsors of HB606: The Civil Procedure Amendment (sponsored by Reps. Jonathan Almond, Dean Arp, Dennis Riddell, and John Blust); HB805: The Prevent Sexual Exploitation of Women & Minors Act (sponsored by Reps. Neal Jackson, Sarah Stevens, and Jennifer Balkcom); HB791/SB516: The Women’s Safety and Protection Act (sponsored by Reps. Jennifer Balkcom, Sarah Stevens, Heather Rhyne, Blair Eddins; and Sens. Vicki Sawyer, Dana Jones, and Brad Overcash); and HB636: The Promoting Wholesome Content for Students Act (sponsored by Reps. Neal Jackson, Brian Biggs, David Willis, and Jennifer Balkcom). We also offer a special thank you to Sen. Buck Newton, Sen. Amy Galey, House Speaker Destin Hall, and Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger for their leadership.
Now that HB 805 is set to become law, I’m asking you to help us continue this work—not just today, but in the weeks and months to come.
If you believe in the work we’re doing—if you want to help us turn hard-fought legislative wins into lasting change—would you consider making a one-time or monthly donation today to help us continue this important work?
