1) How Many People Moved from New York to Virginia Last Year?
And how much money did they take with them?
The answer to this and any other questions about what states Americans are moving to and where they’re moving from are now easily accessible on UP’s new Vote With Your Feet ([link removed]) website.
Two years in the making, this is a one-of-a-kind interactive site that tracks the movement of people and their money across state borders over the past 10 years. These moving patterns are the biggest economic story that is day-by-day transforming America’s geographical center of power and influence.
Governor Youngkin, who told the crowd that he reads the HOTLINE every day, helped break the champagne bottle on this new project in front of a standing room only crowd, covered live by CSPAN and others.

A key takeaway: The red states of the southeast are bleeding the blue states of the northeast and Midwest dry. Florida is the big winner in this Moving Van Economics," with Texas right behind.

2) The Laffer Curve Has the Last Laugh
When Britain's Labour government took power a year ago, it quickly reverted to class warfare by cutting the annual tax-free deduction for capital gains in half, from $16,600 to $9,000. It also raised capital gains tax rates to between 18% and 32% - up from a band of between 10% and 28%.
The first returns are in and the tax hike has predictably backfired big time. Receipts from capital gains taxes are down 18%, with indications that future revenues will fall even further.

The revenue shortfall will increase pressure on Treasury Secretary Rachel Reeves to plug a growing annual budget deficit of between $27 billion and $54 billion.
In a move that seems akin to searching under the couch cushions for small change, Reeves may have to sell off a $5 billion hoard of cryptocurrency seized from criminals to help pay the bills. The Brits would be smarter to cancel the money-losing cap gains tax.

3) Watch Treasury Secretary Bessent Take Down Democrats on the Trump Tax Bill
Speaking of Arthur Laffer:
This is one of our favorite moments on the tax bill debate. Scott Bessent is asked at a congressional hearing to name ONE credible source that the Trump Big Beautiful Bill will increase economic growth. His response: Arthur Laffer! That left the stunned congressman stammering that he doesn't count!

4) Davos Founder Klaus Schwab Is Exposed as a Cad and a Fraud
Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy:
An internal investigation at the World Economic Forum has found ousted founder Klaus Schwab, guilty of a pattern of workplace misconduct and misappropriation of the globalist group's money. Even worse for its reputation, Schwab was determined to have rigged the group's high-profile Global Competitiveness Report, ranking countries on their stability and long-term prosperity.

For over 50 years, the WEF has attracted preening corporate leaders, left-leaning governments, UN officials, and woke NGOs to the Swiss resort of Davos where they issued parodies of elite condescension, such as their infamous "Let The World Eat Bugs" project. This was served up by a body that touted the virtues of good governance and social responsibility.
All of that has collapsed with the revelation that Schwab jerry-rigged the 2017/18 Competitiveness Report after Britain voted to exit the European Union.
Is this the end of the gathering of elitist social-climbing snobs in Davos who tell poor people to stop using air conditioning and self-righteously lecture us about the excesses of capitalism, as they munch on lobster and swig champagne then fly home on their private jets? Let’s hope so.

5) Jay Leno Mourns The Death of Late Night Comedy
One comedian after another are now coming out of the shadows and complaining about how "woke" politics has smothered late-night comedy.
This month, former host of "The Tonight Show,” Jay Leno - who was actually funny - says it's no surprise late night hosts like the soon-to-depart Stephen Colbert are seeing plummeting ratings. He told an audience at the Reagan Library in California that hosts have been "cozying up to one side or the other...I don't understand why you would alienate one particular group."
The sad truth is that too many of today's comedians are scared to say anything that would offend progressive feelings. So they double up on bashing conservatives and Trump in their routines, which ultimately makes them sound more like partisan hecklers than social satirists.
Sorry, Colbert: saying "F you Donald Trump," isn't funny, it's 5th grade humor at best.
What a shame, because how easy it would be for comedians to satirize arrogant leftists? Bill Maher, who we quote often on these pages, makes fun of both sides, and his ratings are surging.
