This is exactly what was the risk with Donald Trump: him choosing to appoint
charlatans to the head of every agency because he thinks that a
‘made-for-TV’ cabinet is what is good for this country.

What you actually need is a Secretary of Veterans Affairs — and folks who
are running the VA — who actually know what they’re doing.

Not what’s just playing well on Fox News and who’s got the best hair gel.

When you invite other charlatans like Elon Musk and DOGE, this is exactly
the kind of stuff that happens: things start breaking and tearing apart at
the seams.

And that starts having rippling effects.

The Big, Ugly Bill cuts the recipients of secondary education — people who
want to go to medical school and law school with their Pell grants — when
we need a nation that is highly educated to be globally competitive.

We don’t have to just sit back and watch as the President and his
billionaire donors turn the country into their personal slush fund — the
fact is, that’s what they want.

We are not powerless in this moment. But we will have to push harder than
ever these next four years for our progressive movement to stand a chance.
