Trump wants to privatize our weather forecasts. Seriously.

First, he plans to end the public sharing of critical satellite data that meteorologists rely on to predict hurricanes, floods, and extreme weather. Then, the Trump administration floated something even more outrageous: selling or leasing NASA’s climate satellites — including the very instruments that track carbon pollution and global warming.

They aren’t saying who they’d sell them to. They don’t even know who wants to buy them.

These satellites for decades have informed weather forecasts, particularly for extreme weather events. Rep. Sorensen is demanding transparency, protecting scientific data, and standing up for every community that relies on accurate weather forecasting.
