Dear John,
In this week's newsletter, my live telephone town hall, honoring a Civil War Medal of Honor recipient, and my stops around Illinois' 16th Congressional District. If you need help with federal agencies, please reach out to one of my offices listed at the bottom of the newsletter.
Hosting a Live Telephone Town Hall
It is my honor to represent the constituents of Illinois' 16th Congressional District.
I had the opportunity to hear directly from constituents, answer their questions about what Congress has been working on, and share helpful information about the constituent services offered in my District Offices.
I received questions and comments about the importance of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, I emphasized how Republicans are strengthening Medicaid and SNAP benefits for those who need it most, my support for our nation's veterans, and highlighted the work Congressional Republicans are doing to secure our southern border.
Honoring Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient
Corporal Andrew Jackson Smith served our nation with pride alongside fellow Union soldiers during the Civil War.
I am proud to introduce legislation alongside the entire Illinois Congressional Delegation to rename the VA clinic in Bloomington as the "Andrew Jackson Smith Medal of Honor Department of Veterans Affairs Clinic."
Together, the Illinois Delegation is honored to recognize his immense dedication and service to our country.

The Affordable Housing Credit at Work
I was honored to attend the ribbon cutting at the Willis Senior Lofts in Rochelle.
Language from my Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act was included in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act to make projects like this possible in Illinois' 16th Congressional District and across the country!
I am grateful for Mayor John Bearrows and other community leaders for their work to get this project across the finish line.

Governor Pritzker's Sanctuary State Policies Are Dangerous for Illinois' Communities
The sanctuary state policies championed by Governor Pritzker and Illinois Democrats welcomed an illegal immigrant into our state who then killed an Illinois woman. Shortly after his court appearance, a Lake County judge released him into our communities because of the SAFE-T Act. Fortunately, ICE arrested him, and he remains in DHS custody.
Republicans and ICE Agents are restoring the rule of law and ensuring that justice is served for Illinois families.

Meeting with Local Officials
I had a great time sitting down with Mayor Stenzel to discuss upcoming projects in Amboy and how my office can be helpful.
I appreciate his leadership and advocacy on behalf of the community.
One More Thing: Impact of One Big Beautiful Bill Act
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act jumpstarts our economy by slashing red tape, lowering taxes, and supporting Main Street.
The Republicans’ bill creates high-paying jobs to build a more prosperous future for Illinois families. This bill is a win for the district and communities across the country.
It is a privilege to serve the constituents of Illinois' 16th Congressional District. Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter. Please do not hesitate to reach out to one of my offices if we can ever be of assistance.
Sincerely,
Darin LaHood Member of Congress
