Friend,

It’s clear that there is a major gap between the care that animals in federally regulated facilities are required to receive by law and the actual protections provided. We’re working to change that, but we need your help.

Here’s how:

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is tasked with enforcing the Animal Welfare Act—but doesn’t have the resources or capacity to hold all violators accountable. Stronger legislation like the Better CARE for Animals Act could help close those gaps by providing tools to the Department of Justice to allow them to better collaborate with USDA and step in earlier to save animals’ lives.

We’re advocating to help pass the Better CARE for Animals Act into law so that innocent puppies, dogs and tens of thousands of other vulnerable animals the government is tasked with protecting can be cared for in law and in life. Please, donate now before our July 31 matching gift deadline to help continue the fight to end animal cruelty.

In a recent USDA audit, 80% of dog breeders inspected did not fully address harmful conditions such as lack of water, untreated diseases and unsafe enclosures. These repeat violations cost vulnerable animals their lives.

But with their combined authority and resources, the USDA and the DOJ could efficiently and thoroughly address animal welfare violations in USDA-regulated puppy mills nationwide. That makes the Better CARE for Animals Act an urgent necessity for the safety and well-being of puppies, dogs and other animals in government regulated facilities right now.

Every day without this critical legislation is another day these animals are forced to suffer. So please: Make a donation today to Humane World Action Fund, formerly Humane Society Legislative Fund, and it will be DOUBLED—up to $15,000—to help pass the Better CARE for Animals Act and support all our work to ensure that all animals receive the lifesaving protections they deserve.

Thank you for being a compassionate advocate for vulnerable puppies and dogs,

P.S. Any funds raised over $15,000 will not be matched but will still help to pass animal protection legislation and elect humane candidates to office.
