Hi friend,

I hope you are doing well. For this week’s Patriot Weekly, I want to talk about how the Big Ugly Betrayal is already being felt in the Hudson Valley, as well as the Trump Administration’s BS excuses for not releasing the Epstein files.

House Republicans and the Trump Administration have become brazen and seem to believe they can get away with anything. They believe they have a mandate for unchecked power. We need to stay loud and prove them wrong—and make it clear that we will hold them accountable in 2026 and beyond.

What’s going on

Hudson Valley

What I’m doing: Last Friday, I joined Governor Kathy Hochul and Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger in Kingston to call out the devastating impact of the Big Ugly Betrayal. In New York alone, this bill could rip health care away from 1.5 million people, slash food assistance for over 300,000 households, and saddle our counties with millions in new costs. Hospitals will close. Kids will go hungry. Families will suffer. I’m doing everything I can to fight back.

It’s important that we hold events like these non-stop so that everyone knows that the impacts of the Big Ugly Betrayal will be felt by real people in every community in the nation. This bill is awful for the Hudson Valley and awful for America, and it will only continue to do more damage as its effects kick in.

What you can do:  I’m keeping close tabs on how the Big Ugly Betrayal is impacting our community. Please share your stories here so we can have as many first hand accounts as possible of what’s happening.

New York

What I’m doing: Trump continues to betray those who have risked their lives for our country, and I will continue to call him out for it. He’s a coward, not a patriot. We’ve always known he doesn’t care about our veterans and servicemembers—he called them “suckers and losers” and appointed Pete Hegseth, whose conduct has been shameful, to lead the Department of Defense. Now, he’s taking it a step further and proposing that our veterans should sleep in the streets. It’s absolutely disgusting. I will vigorously fight to ensure that this provision is not in the next federal budget.

What you can do:  If you’re not in NY-18, call your member of Congress to demand that we care for struggling veterans. We can’t stop fighting each and every one of Trump’s awful proposals.

Washington

What I’m doing: I was a co-sponsor of the bipartisan bill demanding that Trump finally allow the American people to see the facts on the Epstein files. Rather than allow the bill to come to a vote, Mike Johnson ended legislative business, essentially shutting down the House until September. Trump, Johnson, and far too many House Republicans are cowards who are carrying water for a billionaire human trafficker.

What you can do:  Do not let this story fade away. Keep using your voice to demand accountability on the Epstein files. We can walk and chew gum at the same time—exposing the cruelty of the Big Ugly Betrayal and the scandal of the Epstein files.

Going on offense

I asked Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy if he’d commit at the next cabinet meeting to ask Trump for a fulsome, transparent conversation about the Epstein files. As usual, he spouted evasive BS and gave every excuse in the book as to why the American people can’t know the truth. It’s yet another betrayal and another disgrace from the Trump Administration, and I will use my platform to put pressure on them until we get real answers.

Keep the faith, keep up the fight, and thank you for reading!

In Solidarity,

Pat
