John –

Welcome to the latest edition of Emily’s Notes — updates from Washington’s 6th and Washington, D.C.!

Here’s what I’ve been up to:

• First, some positive news – We’re bringing $18 million home to Washington’s 6th District for infrastructure improvements, expanded access to health care, and public safety initiatives!

These funded projects cover all six counties in the 6th District – from building a shelter for severe weather events in Clallam County to updating outdated health care records systems in Grays Harbor County. See the full list here → [[link removed]]

• Cleanup at Indian Creek – Governor Ferguson and I visited the site where a fuel tanker overturned at Indian Creek, threatening the Elwha River and drinking water for the city of Port Angeles. We’ll work with state, local, and Tribal leaders to clean our river and protect our drinking water. Watch my video update → [[link removed]]

• Providing an ANCHOR – I grew up around many military families and know the difficulties faced during relocation. I introduced bipartisan legislation to address those issues: the Assuring Navigation of Compact Help For Ongoing Relocation (ANCHOR) for Military Families Act. Learn more → [[link removed]]

• You deserve a raise – I’ll be chairing the new Better Pay and Benefits Task Force launched by the Congressional Progressive Caucus to sharpen our messaging around good jobs, wages, and cost of living ahead of the 2026 elections. We win when we put working people first – read more → [[link removed]]

• Disability Pride Month – July marks 35 years since Congress passed the landmark Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), legislation that’s helped millions of Americans live and thrive with dignity, including my sister, Olivia. I shared my sister’s story on the House floor → [[link removed]]

• A league of our own – The women of Congress (of both parties) competed against members of the press in this year’s Congressional Softball Game. The game raises money for the Young Survival Coalition, a global organization dedicated to helping young adults who are diagnosed with breast cancer.

• The Big Bad Bill – Thank you again to everyone who called and sent messages to our office with your stories about how Medicaid and SNAP have impacted your life. I brought your stories to the House Rules Committee [[link removed]] , where I tried to get Medicaid cuts removed from the GOP budget, aka the Big Bad Bill. (Republicans voted NO.) Then, on the House floor [[link removed]] , I offered an amendment to remove all Medicaid and SNAP cuts from the final version of the bill. (Republicans refused to hear it.) The bill narrowly passed. Here was my immediate response → [[link removed]]

Now is the part where I ask you for a donation.

The passage of the Big Bad Bill was a reminder – we can tell your stories, bring in experts, and do everything we can to slow down a bad bill. But at the end of the day, the GOP had more votes.

Trump and Republicans are terrified of losing the House. (That’s why they are desperate to redraw the district maps!) And the more we can do now to support candidates in swing districts, the closer we’ll be to victory.

Together, we can roll back the damage of the Big Bad Bill and the Trump agenda. Please chip in $25 or any amount to fuel our political organizing in Washington and across the country → [[link removed]]
