Dear John, Our next Local Peace Economy meeting is on Wednesday, July 30th (8 pm ET/5 pm PT). The topic for the evening is a discussion on what we might do in the face of the recent decision by Washington to fund ICE at unprecedented levels. How does the Local Peace Economy movement meet this moment in history? We hope you will join us for this discussion. As is our habit, we will have breakouts toward the end of the call. Breakouts will not be timed, allowing for extended connections and ample time for conversation. We were extremely fortunate to have Sabrina Meherally join us for the Local Peace Economy meeting last week. She spoke on the co-opting of the concept of reciprocity by the war economy. She reminded us that a change of focus on our relationship and thinking on reciprocity could have big impacts on our relationships and our community. If you haven't yet read her beautiful article on Medium, we highly suggest you spend some time with her words.  This week we are remembering the work and activism of Joanna Macy. She passed away last Saturday surrounded by friends and family. Joanna was a beloved visionary and guiding light for many of CODEPINK's staff and volunteers. Her presence within CODEPINK over the years helped deepen our understanding of what it means to take action from a place of love, not fear. She joined us in protest, in reflection, and in building the kind of world where all life is honored. We will miss her presence in the world.
