At all levels of the federal government, polluter allies have been working to dismantle environmental protections. Hold them accountable today.

Dear Friend,

From trying to bring back coal mining, to rescinding forest protections, to selling off irreplaceable public lands, the federal government is attacking environmental protections old and new.

We’ll need your help to tell elected officials and federal agencies they must side with the American people over billionaires and polluting industries. The policies our government is attacking are policies that you’ve helped us build. Together, we can defend the progress we’ve achieved.

Earthjustice is fighting back. Our attorneys are filing timely lawsuits challenging abuse of power. We are defending landmark laws and policies that clean up pollution and pave the way for a rapid transition to clean, affordable energy – and a future that doesn’t saddle any community with toxic air and water.

Elected officials may be hearing from corporate lobbyists left and right, but they should serve the will of the people who gave them their job - you. It’s time we reminded them of that. We’ll need you in our corner as we forge ahead.

Protect one of the most important ecosystems on Earth

Every spring, birds from every corner of the globe make their way to Alaska’s Western Arctic, the largest tract of public land in the United States. This isn’t just a place of staggering natural beauty. It is a globally significant ecosystem that supports countless species. But now, the Trump administration has proposed repealing key protections for this landscape to prioritize expanded oil and gas drilling.

This coal-rich area was protected from new mining but now the Trump administration wants to reverse course

The Powder River Basin region in Wyoming and Montana is a huge coal-producing region. Last year, the Bureau of Land Management ended new coal leasing in the region – but now the Trump administration wants to re-open the Basin for new coal leasing. There’s a comment period open until August 7th. Urge the Department of the Interior to keep the Powder River Basin closed!

Protect forests from massive expansion of logging

Our forests belong to us all, but the Trump administration wants to log them for corporate gain. Following up on promises to ramp up logging — including clear-cutting — across federal forests, the administration has announced plans to obliterate the Roadless Rule, a landmark land-conservation policy. We need you to defend the forest protections we have fought so hard for.

Stop this ultra-deepwater drilling project in the Gulf of Mexico

Fifteen years after BP’s Deepwater Horizon — the worst oil spill in U.S. history — the same company is asking the federal government to approve a new, massive offshore drilling project in the Gulf. The regional Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) office in the Gulf is weighing whether to approve the proposal, and we need to show strong public opposition to another drilling project that risks harm to Gulf communities.
