Weekend Reading
Hi Friend,
Last week, AFSC joined over 100 organizations in issuing an open letter warning of starvation in Gaza [link removed] . Since March, Israel—with full support from the U.S.—has severely restricted food, water, medicine, and humanitarian aid from entering Gaza. Palestinians, including children, are dying from starvation. Yet the U.S. keeps sending weapons to Israel and offering political support.
Urge Congress to act now to end the genocide in Gaza. Tell them to demand that Israel allow aid into Gaza immediately to save lives. Send a message today! [link removed]

Why we need a solidarity economy now [link removed]
By Rick Wilson
Across the U.S., people face massive cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, and other vital programs. What happens when the systems we rely on fail us? And what happens when our communities are torn apart by inequality, political divides, and declining social trust? The solution may lie in something that humans have been doing throughout our existence: taking care of each other. Today, that’s what some of us call the “solidarity economy.” (Waging Nonviolence)
Ethiopia charts new path toward healing and justice [link removed]

Earlier this year, AFSC helped organize an Ethiopian delegation to visit South Africa to learn from communities that rebuilt after apartheid ended. Delegates met with local leaders and community members. They shared lessons about finding truth, demonstrating accountability, and building lasting peace. (The Ethiopian Herald)
