Although Live Action’s mission is not primarily about counseling moms facing unexpected pregnancies, mothers in difficult circumstances frequently contact us for guidance and support.
Sometimes they reach out to us because they know Live Action as a trusted, pro-life resource. ([link removed] ) At other times, our staff meet them in their everyday lives. That was the case with Hannah.
One of our team members met Hannah in a Facebook group. Hannah was a mom to a growing family who had recently learned that she was pregnant again, and her husband was pressuring her towards having an abortion.
My coworker immediately reached out to her, providing support and resources, and our whole team began to pray for her situation. Not long after, she messaged back confirming that her husband was having a change of heart and they were looking forward to welcoming home their baby girl! We continued to keep in touch with Hannah to counsel her and offer support as the weeks went by.
Sadly, joy turned to unexpected sorrow. A routine ultrasound revealed that Hannah’s baby no longer had a heartbeat. Hannah delivered her stillborn daughter at 20 weeks’ gestation.
Although nothing can take away the devastation of losing a child, Hannah is incredibly thankful to have embraced the life of her daughter and to have had the support of Live Action along the way. Her decision to love and protect her baby transformed the short time they had together.
Instead of having her life stolen through the violence of abortion, Hannah’s baby girl knew only the love, care, and protection of her mom and dad every day she lived in this world, even if only in the womb. Her life — though brief — now has a lasting legacy. Hannah shared this with us last month:
“My husband (who was solidly pro-choice) also looked at our fully formed, beautiful daughter and said this completely changed his outlook on abortion, and he no longer agrees with it.”
