Hey team,
Our eyes are on Texas for many reasons.
For one, Texas’s special legislative session started on July 21st, and a new partisan gerrymander — even more egregious than the one already on the books in the Lone Star State — is on the agenda.

“White House Pushes Texas to Redistrict, Hoping to Blunt Democratic Gains”
— June 9, 2025
White House officials have pushed for Texas legislators to pursue a “ruthless” gerrymander of its congressional map. That’s on top of the fact that Texas’s congressional map is already being sued for violating the Voting Rights Act.
Redrawing a map mid-decade in an effort to be unaccountable to the voters sets a dangerous precedent, one that bypasses the traditional redistricting process tied to new census data.
Any president, political party, or elected official blatantly pushing to manipulate voting districts in pursuit of artificial power stands in direct conflict with American democratic values.
Team, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has succumbed to pressure from the White House by adding redistricting to the agenda, and officials may very well follow suit by voting to pass it. Because no matter the cost to voters, maintaining power is the priority for far-right extremists. And for that very reason, we need to be on high alert and ready to mobilize fair maps supporters in this fight.
If far-right Texas officials redraw the congressional map, it will further dilute the voting power of marginalized communities.;
