The Week in Review
Happy Friday!
I hope you had a wonderful week. I am grateful to serve you all in the 119th Congress. Read below to see what I’ve been working on this week.
DNI Gabbard Uncovers Truth About Russia Hoax
Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard released a bombshell report detailing a years-long coup against President Trump by some of the highest ranking Democrats in the country. In 2016, intelligence was politicized and weaponized by the most powerful people in the Obama Administration, subverting the will of the American people and undermining our democratic republic.
DNI Gabbard has confirmed what many Americans have known to be true for years. Barack Obama and his top officials manufactured the Russia hoax to subvert the will of the American people.
This is a betrayal of the highest degree. Everyone involved must be held to account.
Standing With Survivors at International Summit Against Human Trafficking
It was an honor to speak at CPAC’s International Summit Against Human Trafficking as the Chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance.
Since taking the gavel of the Subcommittee at the beginning of the 118th Congress, I continue to make combatting human trafficking and child exploitation a priority. Between hearings, legislation, and oversight, our work as a committee is far from over.
In the United States, an adult or child can be trafficked and exploited at hotels, truck stops, online, or even in their own homes. Trafficking victims are exploited in cities, suburban neighborhoods, and rural areas. It can happen anytime and anywhere.
Combatting human trafficking and child exploitation should be a bipartisan issue. My subcommittee will continue its oversight and exploration into legislative solutions for the egregious crime of human trafficking. Click the image below to watch my remarks from the summit:
Fighting for Commonsense Immigration Policies
I will always fight for border security and for commonsense immigration policies. I am thankful for President Trump and his Cabinet’s commitment to securing our border.
I’m honored to be one of only five Members of Congress to receive an A+ on NumbersUSA’s Immigration-Reduction Report Card.
Attending USCIS Director Edlow’s Confirmation
I was pleased to attend the confirmation for the new Director of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Joseph Edlow.
Director Edlow has been at the forefront of immigration policy making, both in government and in private sector, including serving as deputy director for Policy and chief counsel at USCIS, as deputy assistant attorney general at the Department of Justice, and as counsel for Congressman Raúl R. Labrador and the House Judiciary Committee. He also served as a visiting fellow at both the Center for Renewing America and Heritage Foundation.
Under Director Edlow’s leadership, USCIS will return to its rightful place as a key partner in enforcing immigration laws, upholding the rule of law, and restoring faith in the legal immigration system.
Hosting Page Mayor Kidman in My D.C. Office
Thank you to Page, AZ Mayor Steve Kidman for stopping by my office in Washington, D.C.
It’s always great to meet with local Arizona leaders to discuss important water policies.
Applauding Strategic Partnership Between Lucid Motors and Critical Mineral Producers
This week, Lucid Motors, maker of advanced electric vehicles in Pinal County, announced that it has joined with critical mineral producers to help accelerate the development of domestic critical mineral resources and the procurement of these minerals for use in automotive manufacturing by U.S.-based automakers and Tier 1 suppliers.
Strengthening America’s mineral independence is essential to securing our future. I applaud this collaboration for advancing a domestic supply chain that puts American workers, manufacturers, and innovation first. We should never rely on foreign adversaries to power our economy. This initiative moves us closer to true energy and industrial sovereignty, and that’s a win for Arizona and for all of America.
House Oversight & Government Reform Committee Activity
The House Oversight Subcommittee on Federal Law Enforcement held a hearing titled “Catch and Release, Lose and Forget: Addressing the Crisis of Unaccompanied Alien Children – Part I.” My colleagues and I began a comprehensive oversight review of the findings from a March 2025 report by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of the Inspector General, which found that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is not always able to monitor the location and status of unaccompanied migrant children released from the custody of DHS and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Biden’s Border Crisis created a humanitarian crisis that left over 233,000 unaccompanied alien children (UACs) without proper legal oversight and vulnerable to exploitation. According to the Inspector General’s report, 31,000 children were released to sponsor addresses that were blank, undeliverable, or incomplete, while more than 43,000 failed to appear for court hearings and are now effectively missing from federal monitoring. The Subcommittee on Federal Law Enforcement is conducting a comprehensive congressional review of this crisis to protect vulnerable children and restore accountability to our immigration system.
During the hearing, I discussed how vulnerable UACs who entered during the Biden Border Crisis ended up in strip clubs. Click the image below to watch my questions:
The House Oversight Committee is continuing its investigation into the coverup of Joe Biden’s mental decline. Yesterday, I attended the Committee’s closed-door interview of Ron Klain, a former Chief of Staff to President Joe Biden. Unlike the other Biden officials the Committee has deposed, Klain did not assert any executive privilege or invoke his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.
Klain is a longtime political operative of the Democrat party, and he answered the Committee’s questions accordingly. I still have many unanswered questions regarding who was running the country and Joe Biden’s mental and physical acuity, especially in light of Hunter Biden’s revelation that his father was being drugged with Ambien. I look forward to continuing to work with Chairman Comer to deliver answers for the American people.
