For the week ending July 25, 2025

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced the full membership of his newly-formed Property Tax Reform Working Group. The working group, informally announced during the Governor’s signing of House Bill 96 and associated line-item vetoes, is tasked with thoroughly examining issues related to how to provide meaningful property tax relief to homeowners and businesses while ensuring that funding for local schools, fire, police, EMS, libraries, and developmental disabilities is adequate.
Governor DeWine, Lt. Governor Jim Tressel, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik announced four properties that will be prepared for future economic development with support from the All Ohio Future Fund (AOFF).
More than $225 million in AOFF funding will be used to improve infrastructure at sites in Coshocton, Lorain, Montgomery, and Muskingum counties. Governor DeWine created the All Ohio Future Fund with support from the Ohio General Assembly to help attract future economic development projects by preparing large sites with necessary infrastructure.
“When major corporations are looking for somewhere to build, they want sites that are prepped and ready for construction," said Governor DeWine. “By investing to build infrastructure at the Conesville, Lorain, Dayton, and Frazeysburg sites, we’re making Ohio more competitive and positioning those regions to attract projects that create good-paying jobs and boost the state’s economy.”
"There's a lot of work that goes into preparing a site for development, so we're literally laying the groundwork for future jobs and economic development in these communities," said Lt. Governor Tressel. "We've already generated interest in these locations, and by proactively preparing them with needed infrastructure, these sites won't be vacant for long."

Governor DeWine announced the full membership of his newly formed working group to seek a ban on using Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to purchase certain beverages. The working group is a result of Executive Order 2025 – 03D, which was signed by Governor DeWine on June 30, 2025.
The working group is tasked with making recommendations regarding a federal waiver that would allow Ohio to prevent SNAP benefits from being used to purchase certain beverages shown to have minimal nutritional value and which contribute to conditions such as obesity, Type 2 Diabetes and hypertension. Such a ban requires approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Governor DeWine issued the following statement on the shooting of three Lorain Police Department officers:
"I have been briefed on the horrible officer-involved shooting in Lorain, which appears to have been a targeted attack on law enforcement. Fran and I are praying for the three Lorain Police Department officers who were shot in the line of duty today, and our thoughts are also with their families, friends, and fellow officers in northeast Ohio.
"This situation reminds us that those who work in law enforcement risk their lives every day for the safety of their communities. We are so very grateful for the men and women who willingly and bravely serve and protect."
Lt. Governor Jim Tressel issued the following statement regarding the shootings:
"Ellen and I were heartbroken to learn about the horrific attack in Lorain involving three police officers. Our prayers are with the officers, their families, and the entire Lorain community. When our law enforcement officers leave for work, they never know what challenges await them. We are grateful for what they do to protect us. We condemn this heinous act of violence."
