FIGHTING BACK AGAINST CALIFORNIA'S EGREGIOUS PROPOSITION 12

This week, I submitted for the congressional record letters from Iowa hog farmers about the negative impacts of California's radical Prop 12 mandates on their farms and operations.

It's clear.

This egregious regulation makes hog farming more costly and raises pork prices for families.

REPRESENTING IOWA IN THE FIGHT AGAINST PROP 12

It was great to welcome Matt Schuiteman from Sioux County to D.C. for a House Agriculture Committee hearing on California's ridiculous Prop 12 mandates on Iowa hog farmers.

Matt testified about the negative impacts that Prop 12 has on hog health and the financial stability of hog farms in Iowa.

CHATTING WITH IOWANS VISITING THE CAPITOL

I enjoyed sitting down with Jonathan and Brendon who are visiting our nation’s capital this week.

Jonathan farms in Pottawattamie County and is passionate about agriculture.

We agreed that delivering death tax relief and supporting young farmers strengthen Iowa agriculture.

WORKING WITH THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION TO PROTECT FARMLAND AND IOWA AGRICULTURE

The Trump administration's National Farm Security Action Plan is a critical initiative.

It is our Republican road map to keep China and other foreign adversaries away from our farmland and pass family farms from one generation to the next.

It was great to see Brian and Melissa Moser, from Rock Valley, and her parents, from Sioux Center, during their trip to D.C.

Brian coached Beau, my Press Assistant, on the Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley football team.

CELEBRATING THE WORKING FAMILIES TAX CUTS

On Tuesday, I received a signed copy of the agricultural provisions we secured in President Trump’s “One, Big, Beautiful Bill.”

This law invests in the farm economy, delivers death tax relief and includes my bill to lower the cost of crop insurance for the next generation of farmers.

ICYMI: PRESIDENT TRUMP SIGNED THE HALT FENTANYL ACT INTO LAW

Last Wednesday, I had the privilege of being at the White House when President Trump signed the HALT Fentanyl Act into law.

This law will help law enforcement confiscate fentanyl, combat the drug cartels, and save innocent lives from a tragic overdose.

ONE LAST THING: IT'S "CORN SWEAT" SEASON

The combination of summer heat and humidity can be hazardous.

Iowa's massive corn fields are releasing moisture through transpiration and it can make the outdoors quite muggy.

Be sure to stay hydrated and mindful of the heat!

MY WEEKLY COLUMN: FIGHTING BACK AGAINST CALIFORNIA'S HARMFUL PROP 12 MANDATES ON IOWA HOG FARMERS

On Wednesday, July 23rd, I spoke at a House Agriculture Committee hearing to discuss the harmful impacts of California’s Proposition 12, or Prop 12, on Iowa hog farmers and our rural communities. Enacted in 2018, this notorious state measure is incredibly detrimental to producers in Iowa and nationwide.

Since I was elected to Congress, I have been fighting back against this dangerous regulation of our agricultural economy and way of life.
