Dear John,
Folks, this week we wrapped up a long Congressional session before we head into August recess. And since January, House Republicans have done absolutely nothing to prioritize hardworking folks in Minnesota.
House Republicans campaigned on the promise of making life more affordable and lowering costs on day one. Instead, they have allowed the President to implement a frenzy of tariffs that harm small businesses and consumers and have executed the largest transfer of wealth from the middle class to the wealthy in the history of our country.
Thanks to their drastic cuts to Medicaid, the nearly 1.2 million Minnesotans who rely on these benefits for coverage are at risk of losing care. Of those 1.2 million, 43% are children, 14% have three or more chronic conditions and 29% live in rural Minnesota – where thanks to the lack of federal funding, hospitals are at risk of closing. On top of Medicaid cuts, Trump’s cuts to NIH and FDA will make prescription drugs more expensive for Minnesotans and slow down the process of bringing life-saving innovative medications to market. Not only are these cuts cruel, but they are also literally life threatening.
Republicans’ reckless budget also put 42 million Americans at risk of losing their food assistance benefits. In Minnesota, where food shelf visits were at a record high last year, 1 in 13 Minnesotans receive food assistance. And of those, 52% are working families.
On top of all of this, they’re refusing to release the Epstein files after years of insisting they be revealed to the public. This week in the House, Republicans literally sent Congress home early to avoid bringing a vote to release the files to the floor. And why? Because we know from credible reporting that President Trump appears in the files!
What we’re seeing over and over again is a complete disregard for the middle class. Instead of passing any legislation to make life more affordable or easier for hardworking Minnesotans, House Republicans have spent the past seven months wasting time and making Americans sicker, hungrier and poorer.
As we head into the August District Work Period, I want you to know I’m fighting for you. I’m committed to partnering with state and local officials to ensure Minnesotans have the resources they need to succeed.
Here's what else I've been up to this week:
Celebrating saving over $8 million for Minnesotans
I’m so proud of my team for successfully returning $8 million from federal agencies to folks in MN-02! The folks in my district elected me to serve them – and that’s my top priority here in Congress. If you need help with a federal agency, contact my constituent services team here.
Meeting with specialty crop farmers
Specialty crop farmers are an economic engine, powering our economy and feeding our families.
I met with the Almond Alliance this week to discuss how we can work together to ensure specialty crop producers can access the tools they need to continue feeding our country.

Speaking up for the Minnesota Lynx
Last year, I made a friendly wager with a certain New York Congressman that the Minnesota Lynx would win the WNBA finals. The consequence if we lost? A speech on the House floor congratulating the New York Liberty.
I gave a speech, but not the one he expected.
You can watch my floor speech here.
Behind the scenes:
As the summer wraps up, I said goodbye to our summer interns in both my personal office and the Ag committee office! They had a great time this summer and contributed so much to the team. They’ll be missed, and I’m wishing them the absolute best!
Until next time,
Angie Craig
Member of Congress
