I stay up most nights later than I should.

Sometimes I’m working. Sometimes I’m reviewing our budget. Sometimes I’m just lying there staring at the ceiling, thinking about what this country is going to look like if we don’t get it together.

I think about how we’re going to pay the bills. I think about the rising cost of groceries, childcare, and housing. I think about my kids and the world they’re inheriting — one shaped by billionaires, corporate monopolies, and a political class that’s more afraid of donors than of losing the soul of this nation.

That’s what keeps me going.

It’s the fear. But it’s also the fire. Because I refuse to sit back while this country slides into full-blown authoritarianism and corporate rule.

We’ve got MAGA extremists cheering on mass deportations and ending democracy as we know it. And we’ve got Democratic leadership stuck in the past, offering up polite soundbites while the middle class crumbles.

Meanwhile, billionaires and private equity firms are buying up housing, hospitals, farmland, and even our water — like this whole country is just one big asset to be stripped and sold.

But I didn’t get into this race to manage our decline. I’m in it to stop it.

I’m in it to uplift working families. To restore some damn dignity to the people who actually build this country. To make sure our kids don’t grow up in a place where democracy is something they only read about in textbooks.

We can’t afford another generation of polished career politicians who play it safe while the system burns.
