Hi friend,
The federal 988 LGBTQ+ crisis lifeline is no longer operational.
Let me say that again: the Trump Administration has shut down one of our most
effective suicide prevention tools for LGBTQ+ youth.
Since 2022, this specialized lifeline has handled nearly 1.3 million calls,
texts, and chats. For many young people, it was the only place they could turn
to in a moment of crisis. Its closure is not about policy or cost—it is a
political decision with deadly consequences.
LGBTQ+ youth are four times more likely to attempt suicide than their peers.
And one in twelve calls to the general 988 line came from LGBTQ+ youth. These
aren’t just statistics. They are real people—kids with hopes, dreams, and
families who love them.
I joined a bipartisan coalition of lawmakers and advocates to demand the
immediate restoration of this life-saving service. But let’s be clear: the same
extremists who pushed for this shutdown will not stop here. They are attacking
health care, education, and fundamental rights—and we must be ready to fight
back.
If you believe every person deserves dignity, support, and care in their most
vulnerable moment, I’m asking you to join me. Donate to help us fight back.
