Scottie Scheffler, the number one golfer in the world, took home the Claret Jug after winning the British Open on Sunday. The 29-year-old finished 17 under, besting second-place Harris English by four strokes.

During the awards ceremony, however, it was Scheffler’s 1-year-old son, Bennett, who stole the show.

As Scheffler received the trophy, Bennett caught sight of his dad and ran toward him. But he didn’t make it very far before falling to the ground.

“No!” the announcer yelled, watching Bennett’s tumble.

Scheffler smiled and put down his trophy, waving for Bennett to come towards him.

With a little help from a golf official, Bennett got back to his feet, with the crowd cheering, just before Scheffler scooped him up and placed him next to the Claret Jug.

“Have a feeling Bennet’s going to grow up with a lot of hardware around him,” the announcer surmised.

In his post-victory press conference, Scheffler acknowledged that while he loves winning tournaments, golf is not the most important part of his life.

“My greatest priorities are my faith and my family.”

“You know, those come first for me. Golf is third, in that order,” Sheffler shared.

Last week, a Colorado Springs-based Christian bookstore, Born Again Used Books, filed a lawsuit against Colorado, claiming the state’s radical “trans” law violates their constitutional right to free speech and religious freedom.

This is the third suit filed against the so-called “Kelly Loving Act” since it was passed in May.

Born Again Used Books filed its complaint on July 16, 2025 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. The case is Born Again Used Books v. Sullivan, represented by Alliance Defending Freedom.

Background

In May, Colorado lawmakers passed a law requiring places of public accommodation, like bookstores, to use people’s “preferred” pronouns and titles, or face discrimination claims.

As previously reported by the Daily Citizen, Focus on the Family spoke out against the law, noting it would threaten free speech by forcing schools and businesses to adopt gender-affirming policies that violate their beliefs.

Focus on the Family President, Jim Daly, spoke out against the bill online. Three analysts from the organization testified against the measure, and in support of parental rights and free speech, at the state capitol.

The Christian bookstore argues Colorado’s new law violates their rights under the First and Fourteenth Amendments of the U.S. Constitution.

In-N-Out president Lynsi Snyder told popular Christian podcaster Allie Beth Stuckey on Friday that she’s moving the popular burger empire out of California and building a new office in Franklin, Tennessee.

“There’s a lot of great things about California, but raising a family is not easy here,” said Snyder.

In-N-Out opened the doors of its first store in Baldwin Park, California on October 28, 1948.

It was a drive-thru stand located just across the street from founder Henry Snyder’s childhood home.

Christian fans of the burger chain especially appreciate the company’s tradition of placing Bible verses on the company’s cups and wrappers. Lynsi’s Uncle Rich was responsible for that evangelistic expression.

Taking over as head of the company at the age of 24, Rich became a Christian soon after he began attending Calvary Chapel and soaking up the teaching of pioneering pastor Chuck Smith.

Rich Snyder died tragically in an airplane crash in 1993, but his niece Lynsi happily maintained the tradition as a way to honor both his legacy and her love for the Lord.

Moving a company or organization out-of-state can be a herculean task and a decision that’s never taken lightly.

But California’s deteriorating social culture and escalating antagonism towards convictional Christians forced Lynsi’s hand. Incidentally, Focus on the Family departed California back in 1991.

As June marked the 10th anniversary of the legal de-sexing of marriage through the landmark U.S. Supreme Court Obergefell v. Hodges decision, all citizens of good will should consider how this ruling has impacted humanity through children.

We must recognize that the case for same-sex marriage was always about the same-sex family.

No one who advocated for this radical redefinition of marriage and family ever considered this was just about adults.

It was always about the kinds of homes children in same-sex families would grow up in and how redefining marriage would change family itself.

The journal First Things has a very helpful, short essay explaining just how de-sexing marriage and family by removing the essential male/female binary has harmed children. It is authored by John Bursch, vice president of appellate advocacy at Alliance Defending Freedom and argued against Obergefell before the U.S. Supreme Court in 2015.

Bursch explains, “Marriage, as I argued, has always served a vital function: binding children to their biological mothers and fathers whenever possible. The government’s interest in marriage has never been about adult companionship.”

This is because “the state’s interest in marriage has always been about creating a stable environment in which children can know and be raised by the two people who co-created them.”

That biological, emotional and societal connection serves as the foundation for all civilizations, as Aristotle long ago explained, is not a private preference, but a public good.
