Nottinghamshire Pride takes place in the city centre tomorrow (Saturday 26 July).
During the march, which sets off at noon from the junction of Lister Gate and Castle Gate (outside M&S) and ends at Sneinton Market, there will be a number of road closures to facilitate safe crossings.
The closures will also affect some transport services in the city, including Nottingham City Transport and NET Tram.Â
The march follows along the following roads, which will be closed for the duration:
-
Albert Street (road closure part way down Hounds Gate, bottom of low pavement and bottom of Castle Gate)
- Wheeler Gate
-
South Parade (road closure bottom of Friar Lane)
-
Poultry (road closure junction of High Street)
-
Victoria Street (road closure Fletcher Gate just after junction of Warser Gate)
-
Carlton Street (road closure just after junction of Old Lenton Road George Street)
-
Broad Street (road closure just after junction of Old Lenton Street, no access from Lower Parliament Street)
-
High Cross Street (road closures East and Western Street at junctions of High Cross Street)
-
Heathcoat Street (road closure at junction of Heathcoat/Cranbrook Street)
-
Goose Gate (road closure halfway up Brightmoor Street)
-
Hockley (road closures Belward Street and Cranbrook Street at the crossing point)
-
Gedling Street (road closures Lower Parliament Street at the crossing point and further north at the junction of Lennox Street and Boston Street)
-
Sneinton Market Square (road closures Nelson Street and Gedling Sreet on the Friday before)
Please note that Nelson Street and Gedling Street will remain closed for the duration of the event. Other closures will be lifted as soon as the march has passed.
Upper Parliament Street remains closed due to a collapsed culvert (large water pipe) which was discovered by Severn Trent Water while investigating a sewer blockage.
The collapsed underground pipe is causing the road to sink so it was immediately closed for safety reasons.
The closure is impacting local bus services, so passengers should check before travelling if their service usually uses Upper Parliament Street: Nottingham City Transport trentbartonland
Our Maid Marian Way highways improvements are almost complete, with the final phase of resurfacing the junction and surrounding approaches now under way.
Works will resume next week on Monday (28 July) overnight from 10pm - 6am only on Monday to Thursday nights (not on Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights).
Due to the road closure on Upper Parliament Street (see above), we've needed to re-jig our plan of what areas will get surfaced when, so please check on our website before you travel if you are in the area overnight.Â
See more info about the Maid Marian Way project here.
Lady Bay Bridge is currently closed to traffic overnight to allow for it to be painted.
The Nottinghamshire County Council project, which has been jointly funded with Nottingham City Council, is due to finish in October.
To ensure that work can be carried out safely, the bridge will be closed for a short period on the below dates and times:
- Footway closed daytime 8.30am â 5.30pm (weekdays only): Until 20 August
- Road closed night-time 8pm â 6am (weekdays only): Until 17 August
You can read more about the project here, including details on the diversion route.
A reminder that the westbound (outbound) stretch of the A52 between Priory Island and QMC Island (see above) is now closed for the next three months.
National Highways, which is responsible for the A52, is upgrading the road surface because it is coming to the end of its serviceable life. The works will also improve drainage and see new lighting introduced.
A combined cycleway and footway on the eastbound side of the A52 will be added as part of the project.
This stretch is now only open eastbound (inbound to the city) - travel westbound (outbound from the city) is not possible.
