[1]Mark Kelly for Senate

In 1969, on July 20th, as many as 650 million people around the world watched Neil Armstrong step on the moon.

Me and my brother Scott watched it, too… and I fell asleep. But that moon landing was a big reason we became astronauts, and it’s a great example of what our country can do when we work together.

If NASA faced those challenges during the space race, we’d have lost.

We’re in a new space race with China right now, and what the Trump Administration is doing has weakened our hand considerably. They have drastically cut funding for scientific research, and they’re forcing an entire generation of up and coming scientists to reconsider whether there’s a place for them in the United States.

Science is why we have the biggest economy in the world. Science is how we, the United States of America, solve the hardest problems. Science has allowed us to create new industries that create good jobs. And right now, we are handing our edge in science over to our competitors.

I’m doing everything I can to fight these cuts because America’s future depends on science and innovation. We have to lead on this — or our children and grandchildren will pay for our mistakes.

I’m ready to fight like hell to save our democracy. If you’re with me, please:

I hope you’ll stay in the fight. And if you’re willing, please: Consider making a donation to help me push back on Trump’s war on science.
