Neghat
A message from Council Leader, Councillor Neghat Khan

This week, I want to start by saying a huge congratulations to the Lionesses on reaching yet another European final – an incredible achievement and one the whole city will be cheering on! Let’s hope we get the better of Spain and retain our title on Sunday.

Earlier this week at our Executive Board, the Council noted the end of the year financial position for 2024/25, showing we are using less Exceptional Financial Support that expected with an overall underspend. We are continuing to put in place the foundations of financially stable council.

And as we prepare for the Nottinghamshire Pride march through the city this Saturday, it’s a powerful reminder that Nottingham is proud to be a diverse and inclusive city – where everyone should feel safe, seen, and supported to be their authentic selves. Happy Pride, Nottingham! ??️‍??

Green Heart disruption map
*Temporary change to Green Heart path during NHS building works*

Preparation for work on a new NHS diagnostic centre in Nottingham will see temporary changes to the way people walk through the Green Heart and into Lister Gate.

It was announced on Tuesday (22 July) that formal agreement has been reached between the NHS and landowners Homes England [ [link removed] ] for construction work to begin on a new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC).

There will be two key changes for the public to be aware of during this time for safety and to protect the Green Heart:

* One of the walkways through the Green Heart will close and pedestrians will need to divert to the left and centre (blue section seen on map)
* A controlled crossing point will be established between the top of the Green Heart and the foot of Lister Gate. The street will be closed for short periods each day to allow plant vehicles and deliveries to be moved between the contractors’ compound and the construction site (yellow section on map).
