Dear Friends,
I am excited to share the latest news from Congress and the work I am doing in Washington, D.C., on behalf of the 34th Congressional District of Texas.
Warm regards,

Congressman Vicente Gonzalez

On Saturday, July 12, 2025, I had the pleasure of joining Reverend Al Sharpton on MSNBC Politics Nation. We discussed several issues such as the tragic flooding in Central Texas, recent court rulings on birthright citizenship, Texas redistricting, and the disaster that is the “Big Beautiful Bill.”

Led Texas Democratic Congressional Delegation in Urging Redistricting Field Hearing in the Rio Grande Valley
I was proud to lead the entire Texas Democrat delegation in urging our state government to hold a redistricting hearing in South Texas and listen to our voices. It is unacceptable that a hearing has not been scheduled in the Rio Grande Valley like it has been in other communities like Houston, Austin and the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Rest assured I will continue to fight to ensure our community is properly represented.
Demanding Answers on the Tragic Death of Seaman Angelina Petra Resendiz
I led 16 of my Congressional Hispanic Caucus colleagues in demanding answers from the Secretary of the Navy John Phelan regarding the tragic death of Seaman Angelina Petra Resendiz. Every branch of our Armed Forces must ensure the safety and well-being of the men and women who defend our country. When a service member goes missing, their family deserves timely and accurate information, and a prompt investigation. Rest assured that we will continue fighting to bring Angelina’s family the peace, justice, and accountability that they deserve.

Holding the Trump Administration Accountable for Withholding $7 Billion in Public School Funding
This past week, I joined 149 of my Democratic colleagues to demand the Trump Administration release the nearly $7 billion, including over $50 million for school districts in our congressional district, in congressionally approved funds currently being withheld from school districts around the country.
Withholding these critical resources is both irresponsible and unacceptable. This funding is meant to support after-school programs, teacher training, English language education, and adult learning.
Instead of investing in the future of our children, this Administration continues to prioritize tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy. I refuse to stand by while students and educators are denied the support they need to succeed. Our kids deserve better—and I will keep fighting to ensure they get it.

Supporting our Veterans in Weslaco!

I had the honor of gathering with our incredible veterans in Weslaco this past weekend. With the passage of the Big, Ugly Bill, our veterans are now at risk of losing access to essential healthcare and food assistance. America owes a great debt of gratitude to our veterans and their families for their service and sacrifices. I remain committed to fighting back against this disastrous bill and standing up for those who have stood up for us.
