 Hi friend,
What would you do if your obedience to God put you behind bars?
I mean, I wouldn't really be put in jail for what I believe … right?
That's what Ryan thought, too.
In late 2022, Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) pilot Ryan Koher was falsely arrested and imprisoned in Mozambique. While preparing his plane to deliver supplies to a remote orphanage, the authorities arrested and held him at a local jail. After his quick trial, he was later transferred to a maximum-security prison.
For over four months, Ryan endured difficult conditions, isolation, and uncertainty. His wife and two young sons fled to the United States for fear of their safety as Ryan waited for his name to be cleared, not knowing for sure if he would ever be released. Yet through it all, he clung to God's promises.
The charges against Ryan were eventually dropped due to lack of evidence, and the Kohers serve as missionaries for Mission Aviation Fellowship in Mozambique. But as an American citizen incarcerated in a foreign, maximum-security prison, Ryan's faith and identity were put to the ultimate test.
For the first time, we've put together Ryan's story from start to finish. This 5-day devotional journey shares his firsthand account of God's faithfulness through unimaginable trials. Through personal letters, prayers, and reflections, you'll walk with Ryan day by day and discover the spiritual truths that sustained him—truths that can strengthen your faith amid your own trials.
This free 5-day devotional is more than a story. It's an invitation to trust Jesus, no matter the cost.
