Help us begin a new fiscal year strong

“Preservation is a path to narrative—who lived here, what happened here, why is this stone wall here. The questions and the answers they seek continue; for without preservation how do we know our story?”
– Mr. Chuck A., Member since 1996

Dear Friend,

At the National Trust, we are dedicated to preserving historic places and the stories they tell.

This spring, cherished shops in historic districts closed their doors. Celebrated landmarks quieted to an unusual silence. Places we treasure for their history or architecture stood solitary from inspired crowds.

The inability to fully experience the places we love, including our National Trust Historic Sites, has been a profound loss, financially and emotionally. All the while, we’ve leaned into the stories our historic places teach us … that we’ve overcome challenges for decades, and we won’t stop saving America’s history now.

We are urgently seeking to raise $30,000 to begin our new fiscal year strong and invite you to help by joining the National Trust with a tax-deductible gift today.

To encourage your gift, our loyal partners at the Robert W. Wilson Charitable Trust have stepped forward to increase your donation’s value at this crucial moment and will match every $2 you donate with a $1 matching gift.

That means for every $10 you donate, they will add an additional $5. Your gift today of $50 will equal $75, $100 will generate $150, and $500 will yield $750 for historic preservation.

As many circumstances around us change, one thing remains the same: the need to protect our historic placesincluding buildings, landscapes, and neighborhoodsand ensure that all Americans have places that tell their stories, reflect their communities, and provide a sense of identity.

Your support will help to safeguard our country’s stories ... to see that they are always with us, in physical form, so we can connect with them in meaningful and personal ways.

Please join us today to take advantage of our matching gift opportunity, help us reach our $30,000 fiscal year-end goal, and save places that matter.

In our 70-year history, the National Trust has weathered many threats to historic preservation. But we’ve also seen endangered historic places saved and become vibrant community touchstones and sources of hope, courage, and inspiration.

Through this current crisis, and over this next fiscal year and beyond, we will continue to champion the stories of history and save the places that mean so much to our nation, our communities, and our future.

Saving historic places with you,

Paul Edmondson
