![]() Friend, Public media connects millions of people in Colorado and across the country to accurate, timely reporting, and critical information about the world they might not otherwise be able to access. Keeping public media means supporting local news — where they focus and which is under threat and fundamental to maintaining our community fabric, so strained by today’s politics. So when President Trump issued an executive order directing his administration to kill federal funding for PBS and NPR, I took action, and led a multi-state coalition of Attorneys General to join Colorado’s public radio stations to stop this illegal order from going into effect. I take it seriously when anyone, especially our government, threatens our vital public resources, and attacks public media by moving to revoke funding that was previously appropriated by Congress. Because these illegal cuts to public broadcasting aren’t just political theater — President Trump’s actions will create real danger by reducing our ability to get critical emergency notifications to the public, especially in Colorado’s rural and tribal communities.
