In Afghanistan, even the most basic act of survival has become a daily struggle.

Many women walk for multiple hours to receive maternal care at a small clinic — some of them carrying their newborns and some heavily pregnant. A group of teenage girls are excited by the small kit of menstrual supplies they’re given.

For the past decade, Afghan women and girls have largely been excluded from decision-making bodies and in secondary and higher education.

But recently, under the Taliban, the level of participation has reached a new low – zero.

* Zero girls are projected to be in secondary school after a December 2024 ban.
* Zero women serve in national or local government.
* Women are being erased and their choices are being taken away.

And yet, Afghan women continue to fight for their families, their health, and their dignity.

Your support can deliver critical, lifesaving care directly into their hands. Will you take action today to deliver lifesaving care to Afghan women and girls? [[link removed]?]

With your help, UNFPA midwives reach pregnant and breastfeeding women with maternal healthcare and essential nutrients — prenatal vitamins, iron supplements, and postpartum care.

This integrated care saves lives. And it reminds women that they are not alone.

But we are running out of time. Nearly 300 clinics for mothers and children have closed due to underfunding. Over 1 million women and girls have lost access to support services. We must act now.

Your donation today can:

* Provide maternal health kits and medical care
*
* Distribute vitamins and supplements to combat malnutrition
*
* Train and deploy midwives to reach women in remote regions
*
* Reopen safe, trusted spaces for women and girls

Afghan women haven’t given up. And we can’t give up on them.

Please send an emergency gift today to provide lifesaving care to women and girls in Afghanistan and around the world. [[link removed]?]
