We must stand together against this effort to stifle free press.

Team,

The Senate voted on a rescission package that will eradicate funding for public broadcasting, including our cherished local NPR and PBS stations.

In a moment, I’ll explain what this means for New Mexico and beyond, but first, I have to ask: Will you make a donation to stand against this censorship and help defend public broadcasters by electing a Democratic majority?

DONATE

Let's be clear: Republicans’ cuts to NPR and PBS are not in pursuit of fiscal responsibility. This is about censorship and silencing unbiased voices who deliver critical information to our communities, especially in moments of crisis.

With wildfires, hurricanes, and rising global tensions, cutting off informational resources that rural and underserved areas rely on is not just reckless — it’s dangerous.

Their justification for this drastic measure? An executive order from Donald Trump in May claimed that NPR and PBS spread "radical, woke propaganda disguised as news." Such claims are nothing more than an excuse to undermine journalists, educators, and broadcasters who strive to serve the public and uphold our democratic values.

We must stand together against efforts to stifle the free press and hinder the invaluable work of public broadcasters who inform, educate, and empower our communities.

I am committed to defending the institutions that allow us to stay connected and informed. Will you join me in fighting these attacks on our public broadcasters so they can continue to serve New Mexico and beyond?

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

Thank you for standing with me for our public broadcasting stations and the vital services they provide.

More soon,

Martin
