Trump admin defying court by stonewalling on anti-voting order

  • The Trump administration is defying a court order by refusing to say how federal agencies may be implementing President Donald Trump’s sweeping anti-voting executive order, pro-voting groups and Democrats alleged.

After nationwide injunctions ban, judge weakens order against part of Trump’s anti-voting decree

  • In a separate challenge to Trump’s anti-voting order, a judge narrowed a block on a part of the order, now applying it only to the 19 Democratic states involved in the lawsuit. It’s one of the first examples of how SCOTUS’ ruling limiting nationwide injunctions could affect voting rights cases.

NC GOPers want to bar election officials from encouraging turnout

  • North Carolina Republicans proposed a sweeping elections bill that, among other steps, bans officials from encouraging voter turnout. Even the bill’s sponsor admitted: “We may not have gotten it just at the sweet spot.”

  • If passed, it could inspire other states to follow suit. Rep. Allison Dahle (D) warned North Carolina is becoming a testing ground for anti-voting laws: “I get the feeling that people don’t want democracy.”
