Hi John,

Storytelling is what put It Gets Better on the map. And now, as queer youth face rising censorship and attacks on their identity, we’re leaning into that power with everything we’ve got.

We're launching the It Gets Better Summer Reading Challenge [[link removed]], a six-week community fundraising effort running through September 1. This isn’t just a call to read more queer books. It’s a collective effort to raise critical funds in support of LGBTQ+ youth, powered by readers, writers, and advocates like you.

To make it the success we know it can be, we need our community to get involved. Here's how you can jump in:

Start your own fundraiser on Facebook [[link removed]], Instagram [[link removed]], or TikTok [[link removed]]. We’ve made it easy with downloadable graphics and instructions on how to get started [[link removed]].

Donate to and amplify our It Gets Better Summer Reading Challenge fundraisers on Facebook [[link removed]], Instagram [[link removed]] or TikTok [[link removed]].

Post a video about a queer book that changed your life. Tag @itgetsbetter and use #summerreadingchallenge.

Read queer books, share our Summer Reading List [[link removed]], and help spread the word about some incredible queer talent.

We’re offering incentive gifts [[link removed]] to thank those who step up to fundraise, and we’ve put together a Summer Reading List full of standout LGBTQ+ titles to inspire your stack.

This campaign also highlights some of the brilliant voices shaping queer literature today. Stay tuned over the next few weeks as we share some of our favorite established authors — bestselling authors like Becky Albertalli (Amelia, If Only) and Steven Rowley (The Guncle Abroad) — and highlight some incredible new talent, like first time authors Kyle Casey Chu (The Queen Bees of Tybee County) and Abby White (D.J. Rosenblum Becomes the G.O.A.T.)

Whether you raise $50 or $500, share one post or five, read a single book or a whole bookshelf, you’re part of something bigger. A movement to protect and amplify queer stories. A community that believes LGBTQ+ youth deserve to see themselves celebrated, not silenced.

Let’s turn the page on hate and write a future full of possibility.
