Dear John:

The American people elected Republicans to put America first and restore fiscal sanity to the federal government, and we are delivering. The One Big Beautiful Bill extended critical tax cuts so the average taxpayer can keep more money in their pocket, and last week, the House and Senate passed a rescissions package to make sure their tax dollars are being used responsibly.

These are not cuts to critical government operations. They are cuts to ensure taxpayer dollars are working for the people and not for an America-last, woke agenda. They are cuts to international organizations that are fraught with waste, fraud, and abuse, and do not align with American values. And they are cuts to Left-wing propaganda media. NPR went along with the Russian collusion hoax, helped in the cover-up of President Biden’s decline, and spends taxpayer dollars to write stories fussing that ‘animals deserve pronouns, too'. We are not going to be funneling money away from our citizens to fund nonsense. Those days are over.

Despite what the fear mongers may say, according to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) website, in FY23, CPB Community Service Grants made up just 10.6% of the average public television station’s total revenue and 6% of the average public radio station’s revenue. There are many ways to make up that difference. Despite what the fear mongers may be saying, this is not major issue for public broadcasting in the Seventh District.

I was proud to vote in support of these spending cuts in the House and am proud to have a President that understands the importance of putting America first and spending federal dollars responsibly.

Crypto Week

Last week was Crypto Week in D.C. and the House passed three bills related to digital assets. Digital assets are one of the fastest growing industries in the world. For example, Bitcoin (BTC) recently surpassed Google’s stock to become the world’s 6th largest asset. Because of how fast the industry is growing, it is essential that the United States continues its leadership in the space. By fostering growth and protecting consumers, these bills will secure America’s leadership for years to come, and I'm excited to tell you a little more about them.

The Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act, would prevent the Federal Reserve from offering a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), which the government could use to spy on the American people. This bill helps preserve the people’s right to privacy as our financial technology changes. I was proud to cosponsor and vote for the bill.

The Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act of 2025, establishes a regulatory framework for digital asset markets. This framework would implement consumer protections, allowing more people to safely benefit from these cutting-edge financial technologies and regulatory clarity that will prevent bureaucratic overreach and give innovators and investors the confidence to contribute to the growth of digital assets.

Finally, the House took up the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins (GENIUS) Act. This Senate bill establishes a regulatory framework specific to payment stablecoins, a kind of digital asset pegged to the value of fiat currencies like the U.S. dollar. This bill ensures that stablecoin issuers have sufficient reserves and comply with regulations and reporting standards. Like the CLARITY Act, the GENIUS Act will provide a certainty to the stablecoin market that encourages immense growth and adoption. On Friday, President Trump signed this bill into law.

Calling for Transparency and Justice

House Democrats tried to derail serious legislation last week with a political stunt, calling for the release of Department of Justice files relating to Jeffrey Epstein. The measure was poorly thought out and completely unrelated to the matter at hand. Of course, House Republicans believe in truth and transparency. That is exactly why we have been working with President Trump to hold the federal government accountable, including with the rescission package passed last week.

We also believe in thinking through issues thoroughly. And we believe in protecting the innocent. Rather than playing political games, we crafted a resolution to codify what the president has called for, which is the release of credible information regarding Jeffrey Epstein's disgusting acts, and protecting victims of sexual abuse and human trafficking.

This is a good faith effort rooted in accountability, something I have been committed to since taking office. I am proud to sign my name to the resolution that passed out of the Rules Committee, and I look forward to working with my colleagues and the Administration to ensure justice is served.

Thanks for Visiting!

I had a great conversation with the Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) about year-round E-15 and expanding market access for U.S. agricultural exports.

Thank you to the members of the Minnesota FFA Association who came out to D.C. this week! We discussed a number of state issues as well as the provisions from the Farm Bill that were included in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, like funding for Title I commodity programs, increasing crop insurance subsidies, and trade promotion programs.
