As I continue to talk with Illinoisans about the Big, Ugly Law, it’s clear that people are concerned, frustrated, and scared about their healthcare. People will begin to see their healthcare premiums increase, and nearly half a million people in Illinois will lose their healthcare entirely. During these difficult times, my office is always here for you and your family. I am committed to advocating and fighting for everyday Americans, both on Capitol Hill and at home in Illinois. 

Calling Coders: Congressional App Challenge

I am thrilled to announce I will be hosting a Congressional App Challenge this year. This challenge allows middle and high school students to create an original app using any coding language to win the Illinois Second District challenge.

This challenge fosters student engagement and interest in computer science, coding, and STEM. I am committed to watching our students grow, and I cannot wait to see their apps.

Roundtable on Uterine Health

Black women’s pain is too often ignored in doctors’ examination rooms. I refuse to let their pain go unheard in Congress. 

I met with Lupita Nyong’o, an actress who has uterine fibroids and is speaking up and out for women trying to manage the same pain. Uterine fibroids can be debilitating, and women deserve better research and treatment options.

At a roundtable on Tuesday, we discussed how to increase access to treatment, raise awareness, and provide more resources to women with uterine fibroids.
