John,
It's been a whirlwind month in Congress: Trump's Big Ugly Bill was signed into law, the Department of Education is withholding millions in funding for our schools, and agencies like the Social Security Administration and FEMA are facing personnel cuts in a time when illness and natural disasters are ravaging our country.
But as a lifelong fighter for reproductive freedom, what's gotten lost in the chaos is even more disturbingβ¦
First: The Trump Administration revoked a Biden-era policy that required hospitals across the country to perform emergency abortions, regardless of their state laws. π«
Then: The Supreme Court ruled that states may cut off Medicaid reimbursements for Planned Parenthood's non-abortion medical services. πΈ
Next: Trump passed his Big Ugly Bill that defunds Planned Parenthood, which (although in limbo for now) could lead to clinic closures across the country. π
Now, we're in an especially crucial time to stand behind candidates looking to protect these rights and stand up to MAGA extremism.
Last month, I reintroduced the Women's Health Protection Act of 2023 (WHPA) , a critical bill to restore the right to abortion nationwide and stop extreme, harmful state abortion bans, but it takes a majority in the House to pass these kinds of billsβwhich we are just a handful of seats away from.
But Republicans are trying to make sure we never pass protections like this, which is why they're already funding an extremist candidate to flip my seat next year.
John, my opponent is a staunch supporter of these anti-privacy, anti-choice policies, and our community can't afford to be represented by that kind of harmful ideology during a Trump administration. Today, would you donate today to help me defend my seat in Congress and continue standing up for reproductive rights? [[link removed]]
