OKDEMS Chair Waldron:
Democrats Need to Reclaim the Word Freedom
Friends,
There's been a LOT of news this week.
Some of it bad, the rescissions bill to claw back funding from PBS, NPR, and our local news stations is heading to Trump's desk.
The breaking news just last night was WILD -- I so badly don't want to know about Trump's hand drawn notes to his special pal Jeffrey Epstein.
But I'd like to head into the weekend sharing with you something hopeful, and sharing some of the intensity we feel at the Oklahoma Democratic Party right now.
Last weekend, our new Chairman, Representative John Waldron, spoke at Queen for a Night a drag show hosted by the Washington County Democratic Party.
He spoke about the visibility and safety of our neighbors, the stakes of this fight, how we can each make a difference, and made clear that it is Democrats who are truly the Party of Freedom!
In a time where Republicans across America, and in Oklahoma, are attacking the rights of the LGBTQ+ community to organize and express themselves, it is more important than ever to take a stand and fight for our LGBTQ+ neighbors.
But you can fight back! Can you chip in $26 for 2026 to help us unseat MAGA Republicans? [[link removed]]

Special Thanks to Angela Utley, Washington County Chair for the video, Washington County Democrats for a tremendous event, Christine Po, Tulsa County Democratic Party Secretary, and to Randy White.
We aren't ducks in the water when it comes to harmful drag legislation, bills targeting trans youth, and the revived attack on marriage equality.
We can all take the first small steps to fight back that will build a path to victory - recruiting, training, and supporting Democrats across Oklahoma.
And if you've done all that, as Chair Waldron said, "One of the most powerful things we can do is run for office. If you want to run for office, come and see me."
Someone in the crowd raised their hand to run for office and the crowd cheered. "I'm going to tell you the basics, I'm going to tell you it won't be easy, and I'm going to help you along."

We are working tireless to recruit candidates and help build winning campaigns at every level throughout the State.
Oklahomans in every part of the State need to know that the Democratic Party is dedicated to fighting for a better and freer life. But we have to take that message to people, at their doors and in their communities.
This takes work, volunteer hours, and money.
When we're fighting an uphill battle, we need resources to keep our volunteers, organizers, and candidates on the doors to break the supermajority that passes anti-LGBTQ+ bills.
Can you chip in just a few bucks to help us build the pro-democracy, pro-LGBTQ+, and pro-family campaigns for 2026? [[link removed]]
Election Day 2026 might be over a year away, but the fight has already started.
We need to register voters and reach out to folks who've never even been reached out to by a Democrat.
We know what we have to do and it will take all of us to win.
With Defiance,
Lauren Craig
