California Democrats are pushing two dangerous bills that every
parent should be alarmed about. Both are now in the Senate
Appropriations Committee—the final stop before a full Senate vote.
AB
495: Legalized Stranger Danger
Democrats want to let
anyone claim guardianship over your child if the stranger
says the parents “can’t be found.” It’s a trafficker’s dream, written
into law.
- No background check
- No welfare visit
- No court oversight
- Just a one-page form and a flimsy affidavit
The only requirement? A supposed “familial relationship” to a
relative of the child. That’s it. Then the stranger can move the child
into their home, control schooling, and authorize medical decisions,
all without a parent’s consent.
Democrats claim this bill is about helping kids with detained
parents, but there’s nothing in the bill that limits it to
immigration cases. It applies to any child, for
any reason.
This is reckless. It opens the door for abusers, traffickers, and
predators to gain legal control over vulnerable kids right under the
state’s nose.

84: Defunds Charter Schools
AB 84 strips over $1
billion in funding from charter schools, especially those that serve
homeschool families, low-income students, and kids with special
needs.
Democrats want to force these students into state-run schools,
eliminating the flexible, student-centered options that thousands of
families currently rely on.
Yesterday, I stood with hundreds of parents on the Capitol steps to
oppose AB 84. Shortly after, Democrats on the Senate Education
Committee shamefully looked parents and students in the eye as they
passed AB 84.
Parents don’t want this.
AB 84 gives more control to Sacramento bureaucrats and union
bosses, while tying the hands of families who just want a better path
for their kids.
Parents, pay attention. These bills are moving.
Democrats are coming for your kids.
