Election Reform Efforts Heat Up as
Signature Gathering on Proof of Citizenship Initiative (IL26-126) Begins
Bellevue—"We are challenged in WA state with one of the least secure voting systems in the country," Washington State Republican Party (WAGOP) Chairman Jim Walsh told Steve Stern, host of the Stern America Podcast, recently.
Chairman Walsh, the author and sponsor of IL26-126 to require proof of citizenship to vote, joined a panel of guests, including MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell and others on Monday to highlight election reform efforts across the country ahead of the 2026 Midterm Elections.
"The polling on reform efforts is strongly bi-partisan,” said Chairman Walsh during the two-hour-long podcast ([link removed]) . “It's a matter of cleaning up our processes so people trust our elections more."
Chairman Walsh’s appearance on the Stern American Podcast comes after a big win for election reform last week as a judge in Thurston County ruled in favor of the proof of citizenship initiative that was being challenged in court by a left-wing pro-open borders group.
The favorable ruling means signature gathering on the narrowly focused IL26-126 can begin.
In the meantime, please consider supporting our election integrity efforts. Fixing what’s broken in Olympia begins with securing our elections. We cannot do it alone. We need your help ([link removed]) . Thank you.
Best,
Matthew Frohlich
WAGOP Executive Director
