We’re continuing our Solidarity in Action speaker series next Monday, July 21 with special guest Anat Shenker-Osorio.
Anat is a longtime friend and partner of Indivisible, and she is bringing us her unique expertise on how to message for solidarity using the Race Class Narrative.
We know that opportunists use race as a way to drive a wedge between “us” and “them.” From fearmongering about illegal immigrants to dog whistles about welfare queens and violent crime, power-hungry manipulators attempt to use our biases and prejudices against us to drive a wedge between people who should be standing together. While they enrich themselves and entrench their power, we are pitted against one another as a distraction.
Too often, we shy away from conversations about race and gender, ceding the battlefield to people arguing in bad faith. Race Class Narrative is a messaging framework that teaches us to tackle these issues head-on by exposing tactics of division, naming who they benefit, and offering a common vision that unites us across lines of difference. Advancing Our Values -- Solidarity in Action Training Series
Monday will be the second installment in our speaker series bringing together Indivisibles from across the country to learn from experts on systemic change and allyship. Authoritarianism succeeds when it targets vulnerable populations and everyone turns aside. We will not look away.
