Indivisibles,

We’re continuing our Solidarity in Action speaker series next Monday, July 21 with special guest Anat Shenker-Osorio.

Advancing Our Values: Solidarity in Action Messaging for Solidarity -- Race Class Narrative Monday July 27 at 7pm ET

Anat is a longtime friend and partner of Indivisible, and she is bringing us her unique expertise on how to message for solidarity using the Race Class Narrative.

We know that opportunists use race as a way to drive a wedge between “us” and “them.” From fearmongering about illegal immigrants to dog whistles about welfare queens and violent crime, power-hungry manipulators attempt to use our biases and prejudices against us to drive a wedge between people who should be standing together. While they enrich themselves and entrench their power, we are pitted against one another as a distraction.

Too often, we shy away from conversations about race and gender, ceding the battlefield to people arguing in bad faith. Race Class Narrative is a messaging framework that teaches us to tackle these issues head-on by exposing tactics of division, naming who they benefit, and offering a common vision that unites us across lines of difference. Come learn how we can use the Race Class Narrative messaging and analysis to build solidarity across lines of difference from Anat Shenker-Osorio.

Host of the Words to Win By podcast and Principal of ASO Communications, Anat Shenker-Osorio examines why certain messages falter where others deliver. She has led research for new messaging on issues ranging from clean energy to immigrant rights to reforming criminal justice. Her writing and research is profiled in The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Boston Globe, Salon, The Guardian, and Grist, among others. She is the author of Don't Buy It: The Trouble with Talking Nonsense About the Economy.

Advancing Our Values -- Solidarity in Action Training Series

Monday will be the second installment in our speaker series bringing together Indivisibles from across the country to learn from experts on systemic change and allyship. Authoritarianism succeeds when it targets vulnerable populations and everyone turns aside. We will not look away. With this speaker series, we’re going to learn how to better support impacted communities from experts in the field.

Here’s a preview of some of what’s to come:

Now is the time to learn the skills you’ll need to show up next to your neighbors, your friends, your loved ones when they are being targeted. Join us for the second session of our Solidarity in Action speaker series -- Messaging for Solidarity: Race Class Narrative this Monday, July 21 at 7pm ET/4pm PT.

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
