[link removed] [[link removed]] John,For sixty years, the Voting Rights Act has protected Americans from racial discrimination at the ballot box by allowing them to sue to protect their rights. Until now.
A federal appeals court just issued a decision so extreme it could reshape the future of voting rights in this country.
The court ruled that private citizens cannot bring lawsuits under a key section of the Voting Rights Act. In other words, the court said that only the Department of Justice can act—even in cases of clear discrimination.
That’s never been the law.
And it’s never been the practice.
Hundreds of critical voting rights cases have been brought by individuals and communities seeking justice.
Now, a group of Native American tribes in North Dakota is asking the Supreme Court to step in. If they take the case, it will be an all-hands-on-deck moment for our democracy. And Minnesota will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with those working to preserve this fundamental right.
We’re already preparing for the work ahead, but we need your help. Will you chip in $10 or more today to support our work in defending voting rights? [[link removed]]

As Secretary of State, I’ve spent my career working to ensure every Minnesotan can cast their vote freely and fairly.
My great-grandfather fled a country where that freedom didn’t exist, and his story still fuels my work today.
The struggle for voting rights isn’t over. Not even close. Let’s show them we’re not backing down. Help me step up and get our message out. Chip in $5 or more now → [[link removed]]
Thank you,
Steve
