DNC & ASDC Held 138 Town Halls Nationwide on Trump’s Health Care-Ripping and Tax Scam

On Friday, the DNC and ASDC completed a “People’s Town Hall” in Utah featuring Rep. Sara Jacobs which meant that the DNC and ASDC passed a significant milestone: completing 138 People’s Town Halls in all 50 states to hold Republicans accountable for passing their disastrous budget betrayal — cutting health care coverage from 17 million people and being too cowardly to meet with their constituents about it.

Republicans refused to meet with their constituents during the debate of their bill, which will kick 17 million Americans off health care, could reduce or eliminate critical food benefits for 22 million Americans, and sets the US on a path towards an economic crisis.

In response, the DNC and ASDC set up “People’s Town Halls” in all 50 states to directly communicate to those most affected by Republicans’ billionaire budget betrayal. After accomplishing this goal, the DNC, ASDC, and our sister committees are now turning to “Organizing Summer” — a full-out organizing blitz to build strong Democratic power in the states through robust virtual and in-person organizing events and voter registration efforts in targeted states and districts along with voter registration efforts.

Now more than ever, Democrats are putting in the work to capture voters’ energy, drive our message, and mobilize an army of empowered voters ready to reject Republicans’ extreme agenda and elect Democrats up and down the ballot.

DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:

“I ran for DNC Chair to get the DNC out of DC and that’s exactly what we are doing with our ‘People’s Town Halls.’ Over the past four months, we've done what Republicans refused to do — met with voters, listened to their concerns, and brought those concerns back to Washington to fight against this disastrous budget bill. From the rubiest of red districts to blue districts, voters came out in droves to hold Republicans accountable for cheating their own constituents out of health care, food, and money in order to line the pockets of their billionaire donors. What we learned from these town halls is that voters are ready to hold Republicans accountable for their votes. This fight is far from over. This summer, Democrats will be on the ground organizing — meeting voters in every corner of the country, cultivating voter energy, hosting robust voter engagement events, and building Democratic power in the states that will carry us to victory not just in 2025 and 2026 but for many years to come.”
