At a time when antisemitic incidents are at the highest levels ever tracked by ADL, and as deadly antisemitism-motivated attacks are still fresh in our minds, the NEA teachers’ union has made a terrible decision. They want to keep students across the country from learning from ADL’s effective, respected education content.
NEA delegates voted for a resolution that would boycott ADL and the Holocaust, antisemitism and anti-bias educational materials we have been sharing with schools for decades. In 2024 alone, ADL materials reached 3.7 million students. The NEA ban could be devastating to Jewish students, Jewish teachers and all of their allies against hate who are isolated by this dangerous decision.
But this is not over!
We will not be cowed, and we will not be deterred from our work reaching millions of students with vital educational programs that have the potential to inspire future generations to reject antisemitism. Every student that we can effectively teach today is one more person to become a changemaker who breaks the cycle of hatred.
ADL will keep tracking and disrupting hate, developing and delivering research and resources that challenge and change antisemitic attitudes, and empowering people to advocate and drive change.
